Teresa: What is your design philosophy?
Vittorio:My design philosophy is : < do not design >. I consider only the environment as design concept much more wide then a “ good design “ for a “ good object “ or a “ good architecture “. I am not tied to a defined style, but to the space’s quality ,to the spatial ecology of the perceived senses .

Teresa:How do you understand the relationship between the interior and the exterior of a building,or in another word "the environment"?
Vittorio:Each environment represents a landscape to be explored : a “ town “ more or less big to create each time, with all the inputs meanwhile I have acquired ,matured.
In the interior design each project has to give you a different and peculiar feeling. All the elements have to converge at a radical and overall vision of an unlike space. In such interior landscape the furniture fits into just to create functions, served spaces. A space-time concept ,that exceeds any other aspect such as decoration ,detail ,which has to take over at the end of a mental process.
The energy that the space must communicate can be provoked by a particular use of the color or by a material or both to create lightness, hard or soft sensations ; and by a distinctive arrangement of the room’s structure. Architecture design, instead having lost its characteristic rationalist features of form-function,has become a research of a new language, supported by a more conscious use of techniques and materials :with a new freedom on planning the inner spaces, too . For this reason on designing architecture I have left the meaning of “ facade “.

Teresa:What do you think of the relationship between architecture and the information technology
Vittorio:
The information technology has transformed the form, the sense of the space and the time,in the architectural world ,too. Technology becomes always more light. The matter ,as the hardware shrinks more and more. The virtual reality and its unthinkable figurative world requests new words, new marks to express itself.

Teresa:Do you have any style?
Vittorio:I have not any preconceived style to impose ,but a style tightly correlated to the environment,to the space to qualify, organic to this.

Teresa: As a architect, how do you apply your design concept in a building project?
Vittorio:
The project is organized beyond the shape of the building, talking with its surroundings. The skin of the container-architecture becomes the privileged territory for the innovation,by the surfaces used as animate screen for messages and images to launch outside. This is a structural language trying to renew volumes ,surfaces, spatial relations and colors. At the same time ,it means to change the ideas of the living, working ,shopping and so on !

Teresa: After doing so many projects in China, what is your opinion about Residential living in China?
Vittorio:
The top-end residential living in China ,especially in Beijing , I believe is a big problem ,concerning the realization of the villas and apartments compounds.
Here, real estates and architects are building so many residential complex with so many fake decorations, fake statues of fake marble, fake tympanum, fake colonnades ,in old roman style,in detail “ late-imperial !!! Above all ,for top-level clients. Why all these fakes have to create status symbol ? All for an image of papier-mache`,for a visual backdrop that seems purposely made for movies on the old pomp of the old Rome.
Or we can find other terrifying villas compounds that I define < the toy’s villages>,which alter the nature. Eclectic at all, often combining different styles in the same area. Where big prestige means bigger profusion and waste of ornaments ! But unfortunately inside the dwellings ,villas or apartments, frequently I witness a complete lack of consideration about a right settlement of the spaces and plants, fixtures and fittings in particular.

Teresa:What is your opinion about the China design trend and its development?
Vittorio:
Today`s trend of the Chinese design ,in the modern one, is still devouring the western design, on grasping the high-tech as religious icon, available for all sites and environments, often worked out of scale ,as a surprising monument !
But anyway for my test there are a lot of differences between the various cities : Beijing and Shanghai f.e.In Beijing the architecture is more self-representative,self-referent,stiff. In Shanghai you can find a more exciting design ,where the western modernity can better represent itself !
